Reliance Industries’ 43rd AGM held today on Wednesday was surprising in various ways. It was the company’s first-ever virtual AGM and live streamed on Jio’s video conferencing platform JioMeet that was launched about a week ago.
Other than the announcement of $4.5 billion investment by Google in Jio Platforms, the company also unveiled its first-ever mixed reality headset dubbed as Jio Glass which was probably the biggest shocker at the event.
Jio Glass specifications:
Jio Glass features a casual wayfarer design that appears much better than the Oculus or HoloLens headsets. It features a camera in the center of the two lenses and it has a button on the right stem of the headset that will be used for interacting with the tools available in the device.
Jio Glass offers a virtual enviornment of any place as per your requirement and in the demo the company displayed a virtual classroom enviorment in which Akash Ambani (a 3D avatar) and Isha Ambani (2D screen) was seen interacting with each other over the call in the virtual environment with Kiran Thomas, the President of Reliance Industries Limited.
Jio Glass can also be connected with your smartphone to access internet service using a cable connection (port details not revealed).
The company noted that the Jio Glass supports 25+ apps but did not reveal the name of the apps and it comes with tiny speakers placed inside each stem of the glasses for the audio experience. The company is probably using bone-conduction technology for audio output which means you don’t need any other accessories for the sound experience.
The company did not reveal its full specifications, pricing, and availability details but we can expect more to be announced in the coming future.
