Controversial video conferencing app Zoom has been named as the most downloaded non-game app of April 2020 with about 131 million installs that make a 60x growth from April 2019 as reported by the Sensor Tower.
Zoom collected most downloads from India with 18.2 percent and the United States at 14.3 percent of its total downloads.
The Cyber Coordination Centre (CyCord) of the Ministry of Home Affairs highlighted security concerns about Zoom in the advisory dated April 12, 2020, stressing that Zoom should not be used by government offices/ officials for official purposes, CyCord added that it could still be used by individuals in their personal capacity.
Zoom topped as the most installed non-game app on both App Store and Google Play Store, while TikTok (ranked 1st in March) took the second place with more than 107 million installs, a 2.5x increase from April 2019 worldwide.
TikTok which recently achieved a 2 billion installs milestone claimed about 22 percent installs from India and 9.4 percent from the United States.
