ByteDance-owned TikTok the short video sharing app again tops as the most downloaded non-game app in August 2020 with more than 63.3 million installs that represented a 1.6 percent increase from August 2019 as reported by the analytics firm Sensor Tower.
The rise in the install numbers of TikTok reveals that the company is still able to earn trust from customers and gaining new users amid speculations of ban in other countries including the US.

Zoom is back to that second place after slipping in third place to Facebook in July with more than 52.2 million installs out of which 25 percent installs were reported in India and 19.5 percent in the United States.

Following the ban of TikTok in India, many TikTok alternatives have seen a significant rise in the number of installs in India. China-based SnackVideo has climbed to the seventh place after making it to the top 10 list for the first time with 28.8 million installs in July thanks to the spike in the number of installs on Google Play Store (ranked at 2nd place).
