Rapper Akon has finally signed an agreement with the government of his native country Senegal to build his AKON CITY and more amusing is that the city will have Akoin Cryptocurrency as the official currency of the city which will be available across 54 countries of Africa continent.
In 2018 CNN published an article that shows the plans of the rap star Akon to build his Akon City on 2,000 acres of land that was gifted to him by the President of Senegal, Macky Sall. According to its official website, the city (under development) will be a five-minute drive from Senegal’s new international airport.
All transactional activities in Akon City will be done through Akoin, not any other cryptocurrency like Bitcoin or Ethereum as claimed by the official Facebook page of the Akoin and the official website says that a white paper and “explainer video” will be available sometime in February this year.
Investments in cryptocurrency are rising in African countries as South Africa and Nigeria are the highest-ranked African countries with the largest volume of cryptocurrency transactions, according to data from CryptoCompare.
