Google has announced that it is rolling out seven new features to its Android apps and services for most Android devices that includes Messages, Gboard, and the Android Earthquake Alerts System. The new features announced today are listed below:
End-to-End Encryption for Google Messages:
Google announced the RCS chats sent through the Messages app will now have end-to-end encryption meaning the messages sent through messages will now be encrypted (only for those who have RCS in Messages), the send button will now have a lock icon on it. The new feature will be available for one-to-one conversation only and group chats won’t have that feature at this time.
Starred Messages for Google Messages:
Google has finally added the Starred Messages to the Google Messages that allows users to star an important message that can be found easily in their inbox.
To star a message the user have to just long-press on a message and that message will be added to your starred messages.
Android Earthquake Alerts System adds support for more countries
Google has announced to add more countries to the Android Earthquake Alert System that has been available in Greece and New Zealand in April thus year.
The Android Earthquake Alerts System will now be available in Kazakhstan, Kyrgyz Republic, Tajikistan, The Philippines, Turkey, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan.
The company plans to add more counties to this service over the next year but primarily focused to offer this service in countries that are at a high risk of earthquakes.
Voice Access adds Gaze Detection and Enhanced Password Dictation
Voice Access in an accessibility app in Android that allows users with motor impairment to control their device and now the company adds Gaze detection app that will be able to tell if the user is looking at the phone.
Google has added Enhanced Password Dictation app that allows users to not just dictate passwords but it also allows the app to capitalize an alphabet and also add symbols as saying the name of the symbol such as saying ‘ampersand’ for the ‘&’ symbol.
Gboard adds Emoji Kitchen Suggestions
Gboard is one of the most used app by Google and now the company has added a new feature Emoji Kitchen Suggestions that will now be able to suggest stickers in the Emoji Kitchen based on the context of your message.
Currently the feature will work with messages in English, Portuguese and Spanish available for beta users an is expected to be available for other users later this summer.
Google Assistant Shortcuts adds new feature
Google Assistant can now offer more control over a number of apps and now you can get more information from specific section from the selected apps. Google is expanding the feature to more apps including Strava from which users will be able to check a metric right from the Google Assistant command.
Android Auto gets a bunch of new customizations and features
Google has also released new features for Android Auto that includes option to choose Dark Mode, customize the launch from their phone and added A to Z button to the scroll bar to access apps easily.
