A new report published by Google India has revealed that the political parties have spent over Rs. 3.7 crore on 831 elections ads on Google Platforms in the period of February 19th till April 3rd 2019.
Google India Transparency Report explains that Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) has spent over Rs. 1.21 crores for 554 ads and Rs 1.07 crore for 107 ads were spent by the YSR Congress Party led by Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy over the period.
Surprisingly, the Indian National Congress spent just Rs 54,100 for 14 ads on the Google platforms, including YouTube.

The report revealed that the maximum amount of money was spent in Andhra Pradesh (over Rs 1.73 crore), Telangana (over Rs 72 lakh), Uttar Pradesh (over Rs 18 lakh) and Maharashtra (over Rs 17 lakh) for the mentioned period of time.
Google has imposed its election specific policy for advertisers to run ads related to Elections as the advertisers have to provide a pre-certificate issued by the Election Commission of India (ECI), or any related authority, for each ad they wish to run on Google Platforms.
It is to note that more than 850 million people around the country are expected to cast their vote in the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections 2019.
