A few months back, a campaign named TeamTrees was launched by some of the top YouTubers like Jimmy “MrBeast” Donaldson and former NASA engineer Mark Rober aimed to raise $20 million dollars to help the Arbor Day Foundation plant 20 million trees, the target seemed a bit heavy to reach when it started but the campaign has reached its goal with more than a week to spare before the self-imposed deadline of December 31st.
Some YouTubers made videos about trees to promote TeamTrees reaching more than 500,000 views on videos to help people donate for the campaign, most of the donation made was of $5 but Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla made a donation of $1 million and even changed his Twitter account to @Treelon to draw attention to the campaign.
As per the statement, The Arbor Day Foundation will start planting the trees next month and has planned to plant all 20 million trees by the end of 2022. TeamTrees acknowledges that these 20 million trees won’t curb climate change, but asserts that it will serve as a sign that people do care about the environment.
