HMD Global, the maker of the Nokia-branded phones has officially entered the 5G smartphone market with the release of its first 5G smartphone Nokia 8.3 5G which the company describes as “the first global flagship smartphone to date.” which means that the device can operate in all 5G networks around the world.
“We are supporting the highest number of 5G new radio bands, by far, that you’ve ever seen in a single design, to date,” Juho Sarvikas, chief product officer at HMD Global boasted.

Nokia 8.3 5G has a 6.81-inch FHD+ PureDisplay IPS LCD screen with a punch-hole cutout on the top left of the display that supports a 24MP (f/2.0) selfie camera powered by Zeiss Optics, it features a 20:9 aspect ratio, 1080 × 2400 pixels resolution, up to 500nits of brightness and HDR10 support. It features soft bezels with Nokia branding on the bottom.
Nokia 8.3 5G comes in power with the Snapdragon 765G chipset that ships with Qualcomm’s 5G RF (radio frequency) front end module through which the company dubs the device as a global flagship phone. It comes in coupled with up to 8GB of RAM and up to 128GB of internal storage which is expandable up to 400GB using a dedicated microSD card slot.
It features a circular ring-shaped quad-lens rear camera set up on the back with a 64MP primary sensor with Zeiss Optics, a 12MP ultra-wide-angle lens with 118-degree FOV, a 2MP macro sensor, and a 2MP depth sensor.
The camera app of the device offers a special Action Cam Mode that combines 60 frames per second footage with “gimbal-like image stabilization.” It also offers Zeiss Cinematic Capture, which lets you shoot and edit in a Hollywood-style 21:9 format with “true cinematic color style.”
It features a fingerprint sensor integrated into the power button on the side of the device, it also features a dedicated Google Assistant button on the side and a 3.5mm headphone jack on the bottom.
It has a 4,500 mAh battery with 18W fast charging support, it comes in with Android 10 running out-of-the-box with support for 2 years of guaranteed software updates which suggest it will definitely get Android 11 in the future.
Nokia 8.3 5G will be available in the summer in a single Polar Night color for 599 euros (~$648 or Rs. 52,100) making it a stand out flagship device comparing with Xiaomi, Oppo, Vivo, and OnePlus.
