The global video streaming service Netflix has launched a mobile-only plan in India and some other selected countries. The new plan will cost at Rs. 250 ($3.63) per month which is half of the current basic plan of Rs. 500 ($7.27) per month.
Netflix said in a statement that “We are always looking for ways to make Netflix more enjoyable and accessible. We will be testing different options in select countries, where members can, for example, watch Netflix on their mobile device for a lower price and subscribe in shorter increments of time.”.
Netflix has called it a test and not sure that this plan will remain permanent and there are no details revealed by the company that the same plan will be tested in other countries too.
The new plan makes sense with India’s cheap internet prices and the number of smartphone and internet users growing rapidly. Netflix has produced various Netflix original with Indian content and success of Sacred Games is also a major boost.
Netflix recently announced a new Interactive Series with Bear Grylls which will be launched on April 10th. In a recent report by MPAA says the Streaming service has surpassed the Cable TV Subscriptions.
