Mukesh Ambani announced the Jio Phone Next at the 44th AGM of the Reliance Industries on Thursday that is said tp be the “cheapest Android smartphone in the world” designed in partnership with Google that has optimized the Android OS for this device.
Jio Phone Next is designed for those who want to upgrade from 2G to 4G but couldn’t afford an Android smartphone and bring them to the digital world of Android.
Jio Phone Next has a touch screen LCD display with big notch all over the phone that holds the front camera and speakers on the top but no branding on the front (I prefer the space should have been used for branding). The phone will come with pre-loaded Android Go apps including voice assistant automatic read-aloud of screen text, language translation, and a camera with augmented reality filters.
At the live event Google CEO Sundar Pichai said that Google has partnered with Jio to bring the optimized Android experience to Jio Phone Next specifically designed for the Indian market and the company has also collaborated with Jio for 5G technology.
Jio Phone Next will be available for purchase from September 10 this year, but the pricing and other specifications of the device hasn’t been revealed yet.
