A mint copy of the classic video game Super Mario Bros. has set a world record selling at $100,150 in an auction held by Heritage Auctions making it one of the most expensive games ever.

Super Mario Bros. is the most recognizable game of the world and has been the most popular since its release in 1985. The copy that auctioned was preserved in the highest quality and received a Near Mint grade of 9.4 and a “Seal Rating” of A++. from the WATA games.
“Beyond the artistic and historical significance of this game is its supreme state of preservation,” says Kenneth Thrower, co-founder and chief grader of Wata Games.
This is not the first time that an NES game has been sold for this much value back in 2014, a copy of the ultra-rare Nintendo World Championships cartridge sold for $100,088 on eBay.
