Fortnite has finally rolled out its annual “Fortnitemares” Halloween event this week and like every year this year the Fortnite island is packed with mysterious touches which includes a foreboding fog can hang over the island, the houses are decorated with Halloween stuff, and a secret witch hut surrounded by brooms that you can actually ride.
This year the most amusing feature is that when you die in Fortnitemares you return to the island as a purple ghost so you can hunt, troll and kill the surviving humans and make them ghost as well.
While playing as a ghost you can collect materials, health items, guns, and even the Marvel-themed superpowers available around the map so that the humans can’t use them against you. While standing still in the game your body disappears allowing you to hide in plain sight though your glowing eyes are still visible.
As a ghost, you use your sharp claws to fight the humans at a close range but you have the ability to scan for nearby human players, and the human players are indicated as a little red icon on the map and when the scan finds a human it alerts ghosts in your vicinity to the presence of surviving humans, meaning they can join your hunt for the remaining players.
The new addition to the game is more fun to play rather than just fighting with other players and also when you die you can return to the game as a ghost to take your revenge.
In previous Halloween events, Fortnite added zombies, a giant monster, and this year the developers added a ghost feature which suggests that the company works to keep Fortnite active, even with its annual holiday events.
The Fortnitemares event will be available till November 3rd and on Halloween night the game will feature an in-game virtual concert from reggaeton star J Balvin.
