World’s Largest LEGOLAND Theme Park will be built in Shanghai, China

The British-based entertainment company, Merlin Entertainments has announced that it will develop the World’s largest LEGOLAND® Theme Park in Shanghai, China after reaching an agreement with the Shanghai Jinshan District Government, CMC Inc., and KIRKBI at China International Import Expo (CIIE) 2019.

LEGOLAND® Shanghai will be the largest LEGOLAND® Resorts in the world and the total project investment is expected to be approximately £500 million. It will incorporate a 250-room fully themed hotel on opening and will be located in the Jinshan District in southwest Shanghai with a two-hour catchment of 55 million people.

Merlin Entertainments is currently operating 13 Midway attractions in the country including LEGOLAND® Discovery Centers, Madame Tussauds, SEA LIFE Centers, Dungeons, Peppa Pig World of Play and Little BIG City.

The company is on track to have 220 stores in more than 50 cities of the country by the year 2020, it already has a state-of-the-art production facility in Jiaxing City, Zhejiang Province built-in 2016 to supply products to China and the Asia Pacific region
