Kpop girl group BLACKPINK has made a return with their new pre-release single “How You Like That” and the music video of the new song is breaking major records set by a music video premiered on YouTube in 24 hours.
The music video premiered on June 26 at 6 p.m. KST and according to a report by BBC News that day, a total of 1.65 million people watched the music video together breaking the previous record of BTS’s “ON,” music video that achieved a peak of 1.54 million concurrent viewers on the premiere.
By 9:40 p.m. KST, the video had already reached over 10 million views on YouTube which means it took only 3 hours and 40 minutes to hit the milestone.
“How You Like That” is now the fastest K-pop girl group music video to reach the 10 million mark. The previous record was also held by BLACKPINK for their “Kill This Love,” MV which reached 10 million in 4 hours and 13 minutes.
By 10:32 p.m. KST, it had crossed 20 million views, and that so done in just 4 hours and 32 minutes to reach the milestone breaking the previous record set by BTS’s “Boy With Luv” in 5 hours and 3 minutes.
By 12:48 a.m. KST on June 27 it crossed 30 million views and reached this milestone in just 6 hours and 48 minutes breaking the previous record for fastest Korean group MV to reach 30 million views set by BTS’s “Boy With Luv,” in 7 hours and 13 minutes.
By 02:37 a.m. KST on June 27 it crossed 40 million views and reached this milestone in just 8 hours and 37 minutes breaking the previous record for fastest Korean group MV to reach 40 million views set by BTS’s “Boy With Luv,” in 10 hours and 08 minutes.
At 02:37 a.m. KST on June 27, it crossed 50 million views and reached this milestone in 11 hours and 25 minutes surpassing the previous record for the fastest Korean group MV to reach 50 million views set by BTS’s “Boy With Luv,” in just over 13 hours.
BLACKPINK also surpassed their own record of reaching 50 million views by a girl group with “Kill This Love.” that took over 24 hours to reach the milestone.
BLACKPINK’s label YG Entertainment confirmed that as of 7 a.m. KST on June 27, “How You Like That” had hit No. 1 on iTunes Top Songs charts in at least 60 different regions including the United States. The number has jumped to 64 regions setting a new all-time record for girl groups.
At about 09:08 a.m. KST on June 27, it crossed 60 million views and reached this milestone in 15 hours and 08 minutes surpassing the previous record for the fastest Korean group MV to reach 60 million views set by BTS’s “Boy With Luv,” that took 17 hours and 45 minutes.
At about 01:55 p.m. KST on June 27, it crossed 70 million views and reached this milestone in about 19 hours and 55 minutes surpassing the previous record for the fastest Korean group MV to reach 70 million views set by BTS’s “Boy With Luv,” that took 21 hours and 15 minutes.
At about 05:00 p.m. KST on June 27, it crossed 80 million views in about 23 hours. This feat is not just a personal record for BLACKPINK but it has also surpassed the record set by BTS’s “Boy With Luv,” which took 24 hours and 40 minutes to reach 80 million views.
At about 02:22 a.m. KST on June 28, it crossed 100 million views in just one day, eight hours, and 22 minutes surpassing the record set by BTS’s “Boy With Luv,” which took one day, 13 hours, and 38 minutes to reach 100 million views.
BLACKPINK also performed their new track for the first time on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon” on June 26 local time.
