The Italian Supercar maker Lamborghini has introduced Sian (“flash” or “lightning” in Bolognese dialect), its first-ever supercapacitor-based hybrid with the iconic Lamborghini 6.5 liter V12 engine (785HP) which is used in the Aventador SVJ.
Lamborghini Sian is the first hybrid vehicle for Lamborghini and it has a 48-volt electric motor which generates 34HP which adds to a total of 819 HP (602kW) to the car which makes it the most powerful car ever built by Lamborghini.
The use of supercapacitors makes the car three times better than the electric or hybrid cars that use lithium-ion batteries of similar weight and similar power.
It has a seven-speed automatic gearbox with adaptive shift characteristics depending on the driving mode which is configured to an electronically-controlled all-wheel-drive system with rear mechanical self-locking differential.
It generates electronically controlled top speed of 217 mph (350 kph) which is not even close to Bugatti Chiron which recently broke the 300 mph mark but this beast is fast–very fast.
It generates more power than the Aventador SVJ but the acceleration time is identical. It goes from 0 to 100 kilometers per hour (0-62 mph) in just 2.8 seconds but it’s faster when it comes to the 19-37 mph (30-60 kph) and 43-74 mph (70-120 kph) acceleration times – by 0.2 and 1.2 seconds, respectively.
And if you’re thinking (or dreaming) to purchase it you can’t all 63 models that the company will be making has been sold and all the 63 lucky customers will be able to own the iconic Lamborghini Sian which has a starting price of $3.6 million.
