Fiat 500 is a well-known family car in the European countries and the company has unveiled an all-electric variant of the Fiat 500 with a new name Fiat 500e that will be available along with the current-generation Fiat 500 with internal combustion power and hybrid variant.
The basic shape of the Fiat 500 has been retained but it offers smooth bodywork, new LED headlights, and a fresh front fascia and the Fiat badge from the front has been replaced with the 500e badge in the grille. On the back, the shape has been rounded more and the taillights create an E-shaped motif when lightened to highlight the electric nature of the car
Fiat 500e includes a single electric motor with a 42 kWh Lithium-ion battery that generates 118 horsepower (88 kilowatts) and the company says it can accelerate the car from 0 to 50 km/h in just 3.1 seconds and 0 to 100 km/h (0-62 mph) in just 9.0 seconds. It also develops a top speed of 93 mph (150 km/h) and offers a range of 320 kilometers (199 miles) as per Euro-spec WLTP standards.
The company claims that it can be charged from 0 to 80 percent of its range in 35 minutes using an 85 kW DC charger while the charging at home will take around 14 hours.
Fiat 500e It features a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system that comes in with the new Uconnect 5 multimedia system connects to the internet and is also accessible through a smartphone. It also includes major features like Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, automatic braking, blind-spot monitoring, lane-keep assist, and adaptive cruise control and three driving modes – Normal, Range, and Sherpa (top performance).
On the steering wheel it features a series of buttons that appears like the keys of a piano and the instrument panel is replaced with a 7-inch display.
It is available for order in European markets from today, with a special launch edition available at a starting price of €37,500 that features LED headlights, eco-leather seats, 17-inch wheels, chrome exterior trim, and the full gamut of available driver assists.
Fiat has also launched the 500e “La Prima” edition in two variants:
Fiat 500e ‘la Prima’ hatchback priced at €34,900 and the convertible variant is priced at €37,900.
