Lucid Motors has surprisingly unveiled the new Lucid Air Sapphire Edition that the company claims to have acceleration faster than the Tesla Model S Plaid going from 0-60mph in under two seconds that is faster than the Tesla Model S Plaid that achieves the same in 1.99 seconds.
The company also claims that it can go from 0-100mph in under four seconds, and pass by a quarter-mile in under nine seconds.
Lucid Air Sapphire Edition comes in with three motors, two at the rear and one at the front that jumps the estimated horsepower up to 1,200 (torque number not available). It includes two 500kW inverters including custom planetary gear reduction units.
It comes with custom composite wheels and a special set of tires (20 inches at the front, 21 inches at the back) that offers a combination of low rolling resistance and high grip while driving the vehicle.
The Lucid Air Sapphire Edition will start at $249,000 and deliveries are expected to start in the first half of 2023.
