China’s ByteDance-owned TikTok the short video sharing app recently made a milestone with 2 billion downloads combined on the Apple App Store and Google Play Store but the app has not lost its presence in the market to get new users on board even with huge criticism faced because of Anti-China sentiment in India.
TikTok ranked as the most downloaded non-game app in June 2020 with more than 87 million installs that represented a 52.7 percent increase from June 2019 as reported by the analytics firm Sensor Tower. India still remains the country with most installs with 18.8 percent of its total downloads followed up by the United States at 8.7 percent.
Zoom was placed second with about 71.2 million installs capturing a massive 34x increase from June 2019. India accounts for 30.8 percent installs while the United States counts for 11.3 percent of the total installs of the app.
In overall downloads, Facebook, WhatsApp, and Instagram placed at 3rd, 4th, and 5th place respectively. Russia-based FaceApp has also made a return to the Top 10 installed app list in June 2020.
Since TikTok has been banned by the Government of India along with 58 other mobile apps we can expect that TikTok will lose its presence in the Top 3 places in the month of July.
